KATHMANDU, Nov 14: The Pokhara Metropolitan City is going to give Rs 20 per garland to the farmers for the flower garlands that were not sold at the Marigold Flower Fair in Pokhara.
The metropolitan city estimates that about 6500 garlands put up for sale by the farmers were not sold at the Fair which was held from November 11 to November 14 at Shree Complex premises in Pokhara.
Around 4 million flower garlands will be traded in upcoming Tih...
Manohar Kadaria, chief of Pokhara Metropolitan City Economic Development Division, said that the farmers will be given an incentive of Rs 20 per garland.
He stated that due to an excess supply of flowers in the market and a higher demand than before, along with the arrival of flowers from neighboring areas, farmers selling flowers regularly in the Shree Complex area are facing difficulties. Therefore, the Pokhara Metropolitan City has decided to provide an incentive at the rate of Rs 20 per garland to support the sales and distribution of garlands.
Farmers complained that not many flowers were sold in the fair held at Shree Complex.
The metropolitan city has requested the farmers to keep the flowers and unsold garlands in the farmer's fields safe. "It has been arranged to purchase dried flowers from 50 to 80 rupees per kg, depending on the quality," Kadaria said.
