Pokhara Metropolis bans screening of Indian films

POKHARA, June 19: Following the lead of Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Shah, the Pokhara Metropolitan City has also implemented a ban on the screening of Indian films within its jurisdiction.

POKHARA, June 19: Following the lead of Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Shah, the Pokhara Metropolitan City has also implemented a ban on the screening of Indian films within its jurisdiction.


Mayor Dhanraj Acharya of Pokhara metropolis issued a letter to local cinema halls, directing them to refrain from showing any Indian movies until the dialogue in the South Indian movie "Adipurush" is corrected.

The letter explicitly states that the screening of any other Indian film in cinemas within the Pokhara metropolitan area is prohibited until the phrase " Janki is the daughter of India. " included in "Adipurush" is removed.


No Indian movies are being screened in the cinema halls of Kathmandu metropolis as of Monday following the Adipurush controversy. Following the instructions of Mayor Shah, the cinema hall operators have ceased the screening of the movie.
