His appeal comes at a time when India has imposed an "undeclared" economic blockade against Nepal.Speaking in parliament, he said "I request the Indian government to allow Nepal to enjoy its rights of transit passage and also not to create any kind of blockade along border points."
He also said that shortage of essential goods resulting from the blockade has crippled normal life in the country.
He also said that the ongoing protests in Tarai region should not harm social harmony, national strength and the country's international relations.
However, India has been denying that it has any role in the blockade and has attributed the halting of vehicles carrying goods at the border points to the unrest in the Tarai districts of Nepal.
In a press conference held two days ago, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae had said that India can do nothing to end the blockade as it was orchestrated by the people of Nepal themselves and that his government was not involved in Nepal's internal matter.
