PM Oli to lead 87-member delegation to China

His delegation includes 32 government officials and 55 members from the private sector.

KATHMANDU, Nov 29: Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli is leading an 87-member delegation during his upcoming visit to China. 


A cabinet meeting held on Thursday approved the visit, which will take place from December 2 to 5.

According to Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, the delegation will include members from the private sector, lawmakers, the foreign minister, and experts. Claiming that the delegation has been formed with a minimal number of members, he stated that there is significant participation from the private sector.


Minister Pandey stated that discussions are ongoing regarding the primary agenda of the visit. "The agendas for the upcoming visit to China under the leadership of the Prime Minister Oli are in the final stage. We believe that the participation of the private sector will strengthen the economic cooperation between the two countries," he said.


The Prime Minister's visit is organized with the aim of strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries. While some have raised questions about the participation of 87 members in the delegation, the government has stated that the visit has been kept to the minimum necessary number of members.


His delegation includes 32 government officials and 55 members from the private sector.


Among them, there are nine lawmakers. The lawmakers include Arjun Narasingh KC, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Lilanath Shrestha, Bijula Rai Majhi, Rekha Sharma, Birendra Prasad Mahato, Deepak Karki, Sarbendra Nath Shukla and Ranjita Shrestha.


The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral economic, trade and cultural cooperation.
