PM Oli to face vote of confidence as NUP withdraws support

The Nagarik Unmukti Party has withdrawn its support to the government, requiring Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to seek a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives within 30 days.

KATHMANDU, July 6 : The Nagarik Unmukti Party has withdrawn its support to the government, requiring Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to seek a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives within 30 days.


The party, which holds four seats in the parliament, submitted a formal letter to the Federal Parliament Secretariat announcing the decision. The letter, signed by the party’s parliamentary leader Gangaram Chaudhary, stated that they would now sit in the opposition effective Sunday.

Following the withdrawal, Arun Chaudhary, who represents the party as State Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, is expected to resign shortly.
