KATHMANDU, April 13: The Madhesi Morcha has accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of threatening them in the name of a dialogue.

Oli urged the agitating parties to come for talks during his televised address to the nation on Tuesday evening.

Stressing for dialogue to resolve the existing problem, Oli appealed to the Madhesi Morcha to send their representatives to the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) during his address.

However, the Madhesi leaders have construed his statement as a threat. "If you do not come for dialogue, we will move ahead," is not an invitation for talks, Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party Chairman and leader of the Madhesi Morcha Mahendra Raya Yadav told Republica Online.

The government does not want to resolve the Madhes agitation throgh peaceful dialogue, rather it is in favor of threats and intimidations, accused Yadav.

Ruling out the possibility for dialogue with the existing government, Yadav said, a federal alliance meeting slated for tomorrow will take up a new strategy on upcoming protest programs. "We will move ahead by joining hands with all the suppressed, downtrodden and marginalized communities to make the protest decisive and nationwide," said Yadav.

The Morcha had set the 12 April deadline for the government to address their demands, warning of stringent protests ahead unless their demands were fulfilled. Yadav also ruled out the possibility of talks with the current government.
