PM Oli offers respect to Nepal's unifier Prithvi Narayan Shah

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended his best wishes on the 303rd Prithivi Jayanti and National Unity Day. 


Prime Minister Oli took to Facebook and wrote, "I express my highest respect to Prithvi Narayan Shah, who led the unification of the state, and our ancestors who sacrificed their lives in that campaign."

The birth anniversary of the then King Shah is being celebrated across the country today with various programs being organized. Prithvi Narayan Shah was born to King Narbhupal Shah and Queen Kaushalyawati in Gorkha on January 11, 1723. 


Prithvi Narayan Shah conquered Nuwakot in 1744. 25 years later, in 1769, he conquered the Kathmandu Valley.
