KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a Standing Committee (SC) meeting for 11 AM.

Sources said the Oli-led faction of the NCP plans to hold discussion about the current political situation in the aftermath of the decision of the Supreme Court to reinstate the parliament and forge the future strategy of his faction of the party.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari had dissolved the lower house of parliament on December 20, 2020 at the recommendation of the PM Oli and announced midterm elections. Following that move, as many as 13 writ petitions were filed against the HoR dissolution in the apex court.

The apex court on Tuesday evening passed the verdict against the HoR dissolution and decided to reinstate the dissolved parliament. The court also issued an interim order to the government to summon a House session within the next 13 days.

After the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) on December 20, 2020, the Oli-led faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is hosting its Standing Committee meeting for the first time.
