CHITWAN, March 3: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal have today announced from the same programme that the new constitution would be promulgated through consensus.
After inaugurating the golden jubilee ceremony of the Shivanagar-based Narayani Bidhya Mandir Higher Secondary School jointly, Prime Minister Koirala, who was elected from the same place in the second Constituent Assembly elections, and Chairman Dahal, who studied at the same school, assured of promulgating the new constitution after consensus among political parties as per the people´s wish.
PM Koirala and Chair Dahal held informal talks for a half-hour at the same stage and both of them announced to promulgate the new statute through consensus.
They also assured of promulgating it through consensus by holding talks and discussion after returning back to Kathmandu.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister and the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman urged one another to build an environment conducive for consensus.
Prime Minister Koirala said that consensus would be forged among agitating parties soon to promulgate the new constitution as per the people´s wish.
He said, "The country has now wanted development. So peace and constitution are necessary for the same."
Stating that more than 3.5 million youths are in foreign countries, PM Koirala expressed hope that peace would be established and foreign investment would be attacked in the country after the country gets new constitution.
He assured that the new constitution would address the spirit of all ethnic groups, religion and communities, adding that the new constitution would address demands of all.
Dahal hopeful for political consensus
Speaking at the same programme, Chairman Dahal expressed optimism that the political parties would forge consensus soon regarding disputed issues of the constitution.
Dahal said that he held informal talks with the Prime Minister Koirala today itself and added that Prime Minister Koirala responded it positively.
Stating that the political situation has become more complicated, he stressed on the need of promulgating the new constitution through consensus to untie the knot of current political impasse.
Dahal said the programme would play an important role to create environment for the talks between the ruling and the opposition parties.
Former Prime Minister Dahal appreciated the school´s role that it had played a vital role to make him a first Prime Minister of the Republic Nepal while assuring possible support from his side for the development of the school.
Dahal had completed his secondary level education from the School. RSS
