KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Nepali Congress (NC) rival faction leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has said that the NC will not join the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Dr Koirala made it clear that the NC will not participate in the government even though there will be a NC candidate for the new president.
Talking to journalists in the capital on Monday, Dr Koirala said, "NC will stay in the opposition and warn the government." He also said that efforts will be made to forge a national consensus in the election to President. He said that the post of president is for the protection of the constitution and it is everyone's responsibility to protect the constitution.

On a different occasion, he said that democracy is not complete without press freedom. He said that development is not possible without democracy and said freedom of press is important forNC. "People who cannot tolerate criticism should not do politics, politics requires tolerance", he said, "The job of the media is to warn; otherwise it should not be accepted."
