PM Khanal unveils poet's statue

KATHMANDU, July 6: Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal  unveiled the statue of Yugkabi Siddhicharan Shrestha constructed in the premises of Nepal Academy amidst a function on Wednesday.

The statue of the late poet Siddhi Charan Shrestha was unveiled coinciding with the Golden Jubilee anniversary of the Academy and 100th birth anniversary of the late poet on Wednesday.



Following the unveiling ceremony, Prime Minister Khanal, Minister for Culture Khagendra Prasain, Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Bairagi Kainla and other dignitaries garlanded the bust of the late poet.



Prime Minister Khanal is also scheduled to inaugurate the two-day Inter-Country Literary Conference-2011 to be organized on Wednesday, on the Golden Jubilee anniversary celebrations of the Academy.



Distinguished litterateurs from Nepal and India are attending the conference.
