PM invites Maoist chief for dialogue

KATHMANDU, May 20: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Thursday called Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal over telephone and asked him to sit for negotiation to arrive at consensus to extend the term of Constituent Assembly (CA).



According to the prime minister´s press adviser Bishnu Rijal, the prime minister told Dahal that they could arrive at consensus on various issues of differences including on the extension of the CA´s term through dialogue.



Meanwhile, the prime minister met President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and informed him about a bill registered at the Parliament Secretariat for amending the constitution for extending the CA´s term by a year.



The prime minister had told that the government took the decision as the task of drafting a new constitution could not be completed on stipulated date.



During the meeting, the prime minister had expressed confidence that all parties will stand together to draft new constitution through the CA.
