KATHMANDU, July 24: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, have reached the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), following a plane crash at the airport earlier this morning.
A Saurya Airlines aircraft, 9N-AME (CRJ 200), crashed during takeoff at the TIA in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The plane had taken off for Pokhara.
There were 19 people onboard including the crew members.

It is reported that 15 people have been killed in the crash and the number of casualties may increase.
The captain, Manish Shakya, 37, has been rescued and taken to KMC Hospital at Sinamangal.
The airport has stated that the plane had taken off from Runway 02.
PM Oli urges to be patient
PM Oli observed the site of the Saurya Airlines plane accident at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Wednesday noon.
After observing the plane accident site, Oli said that this incident made him sorrowful and urged everyone to remain patient.
Oli said, “I am deeply saddened by the death of 18 technicians and crew members in the Saurya Airlines plane accident as the aircraft was attempting to take off to Pokhara for regular technical tests. I arrived at the site to find out why after meeting with an official of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). The airport has resumed operations. I request everyone to be patient during this difficult time.”
