KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Monday conceded that his government failed to act as per expectations of the people as it was not given an opportunity to bring its own policies and programs.

“I implemented the policies and programs unveiled by the earlier government up to one year after being Prime Minister” Bhattarai said, “I was denied an opportunity to implement my government´s own policies and programs”[break]

Speaking at a program organized by the Center for Professional Journalism Study (CPJS) in Kathmandu, PM Bhattarai further added, “People were very positive when I was finance minister but now they are losing hope in me as a prime minister.”

On the occasion, the PM argued that he is now only playing a role for ‘crisis management’.

He also said that there is no alternative to the development of the country’s hydropower sector for economic growth. He, however, criticized the wrong trend of protesting the decision of providing contracts if they don´t find the decision in their favor.
