PM calls 10-party meeting

KATHMANDU, May 8: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has called a meeting of 10 ruling parties at his official residence at Baluwatar, Saturday.



The meeting scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. will hold discussion on current political situation in the aftermath of agitating UCPN (Maoist) withdrawing its indefinite general strikes, according to the prime minister’s press advisor Bishnu Rijal. The meeting of the ruling parties is scheduled to discuss future strategy of the government.



Earlier, the ruling parties had asked the Maoists to first withdraw its strikes to create an environment of negotiation to resolve the current political deadlock. The meeting will also discuss on developing uniform stance of the ruling parties with the Maoist during upcoming negotiation and to bring the Maoists into confidence to conclude peace process and promulgate new constitution.
