KATHMANDU, Dec 31: A meeting held between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and United Madhesi Democratic Front leaders has forged consensus for forwarding the constitution amendment bill for holding elections.
The meeting held at PM's official residence at Baluwatar today, agreed on forwarding the bill from the government side and creating the appropriate environment for holding elections from UDMF side, said UDMF leader Laxman Lal Karna.
UDMF rejects new amendment bill
According to Karna, they held discussions on various issues including constitution amendment bill, local bodies' election, finding solutions on parliament obstruction among others.
On the occasion, the Front has urged the PM to table the bill in the Parliament soon then lead the nation on the way to elections.
It is stated that the Prime Minister Dahal was also positive regarding the issues. Similarly, the Front had also committed to support the local election.
Present on the occasion were, CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Pampha Bhusal from Maoist Centre and Mahantha Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Hrideyesh Tripathi, Laxman Lal Karna, Mahendra Ray, Raj Kishor Yadav and Anil Kumar Jha from the UDMF.
It may be noted that nine opposition parties including main opposition CPN (UML) are agitating against the constitution amendment bill saying that it was against the national sovereignty and integrity. RSS
