KATHMANDU, Aug 1: The meeting of Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) held at Singha Durbar has yet again failed to decide the fate of acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshi as the new chief justice of the country.
According to the committee member Yogesh Bhattarai, the meeting has been postponed as the political parties still need more time to discuss regarding the issue before making any decision. He claimed that the committee will make decision on Friday.
Likewise speaking with the journalist after the meeting, Nepali Congress leader Bhimsen Das Pradhan said that NC has asked for more time to discuss further so that the committee could make decision unanimously.

Similarly, Laxman Lal Karna, chairperson of the committee, said that the meeting has condemned attack on Niru Pal and has directed the Secretariat at Federal Parliament to arrange additional security to the committee member. He said that the meeting has been postponed to have further discussion regarding the issue to make decision unopposed.
The meeting on Wednesday began two hours late to decide whether or not to endorse Joshee as the new CJ of the country.
Previously, the meeting of the PHSC was suspended thrice. The meeting was then called for Wednesday. However, the meeting failed to make any decision as the parties asked for more time for further discussion.
Various individuals had registered complaints against Joshee questioning his performance, fairness and integrity during his career in the judicial service.
