KATHMANDU, August 1: Petroleum transporters have called off the protest they scheduled to launch from Monday after receiving assurance from Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) to fulfill their demand.
According to the Federation of Nepal Petroleum Transport Entrepreneurs (FNPTE), the NOC wrote a letter to them on Sunday saying that the state-owned monopoly is in process to address the demand put forth by petroleum transporters. After NOC’s response, the FNPTE wrote to the entrepreneurs concerned to ensure smooth supply of petroleum products.
Earlier, the petroleum tankers operators had scheduled to halt transporting aviation fuel from Monday stating the government authorities overlooked the ultimatum that they had given previously. The transporters had even warned that they would not be collecting the NOC-issued purchase delivery order from Friday and would completely stop dispatching the fuels.
Citing a surge in prices of petroleum products, the tanker operators have been demanding NOC to increase cargo fares.
