Paudel faction finalizes names for five ministers

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Paudel faction of the major ruling alliance Nepali Congress has finalized names for five ministers allocated for it in the Cabinet on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Paudel faction of the major ruling alliance Nepali Congress has finalized names for five ministers allocated for it in the Cabinet on Thursday.


The finalized list of ministers includes Sita Devi Yadav, Nabindra Raj Joshi, Dipak Giri, Hridayaram  Thani and Romi Gauchan Thakali, according to a source close to leader Ram Chandra Paudel. 


Nabindra Raj Joshi, Sita Devi Yadav, Dipak Giri were already confirmed for ministers while for the remaining two  ministerial berths, Hridaya Ram Thani, Bal Bahadur KC, Ananda Prasad Dhungana, Romi Gauchan Thakali were in the race from the Paudel faction.

The finalized list of ministers includes Sita Devi Yadav, Nabindra Raj Joshi, Dipak Giri, Hridayaram  Thani and Romi Gauchan Thakali.



NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba today agreed to provide five ministers to Paudel faction, resolving the intra-party row.


Of the total 13 ministries allocated for the Nepali Congress, the party has already sent two ministers in the Cabinet – Bimalendra Nidhi as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs and Ramesh Lekhak as Minister for Physical Planning and Transport.


The NC is yet to pick six more names for ministers – five from Deuba faction and one from Sitaula faction.


According to sources close to Deuba,  Balkrishna Khand as minister for defense, Prakash Saran Mahat as foreign minister and Arjun Narsingh KC as education minister, Farmullah Mansoor, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, Bhisma Raj Angdembe, Keshav Kumar Budhathoki, Mahendra Yadav and Ambika Basnet are likely to be inducted in the government from the Deuba side while Gagan Thapa and Bhimsen Das Pradhan are likely to be incorporated from the Krishna Sitaula panel.


The selection of ministers for the Cabinet had been delayed over the row of allotment of ministerial portfolios between the Deuba and Paudel factions.
