Similarly, SH at Kupondole has also introduced a wide range of winter items such as scarf, muffler, shawl and stole.
“We have been working with pashmina for more than a decade and we introduce a new collection every winter so that customers can try new designs and fashion styles,” said Rojina Thapa, export and communications officer at SH.
SH is also organizing ´Pashmina Week´ from November 13 in order to bring together the lovers of pashmina and to provide them exclusive pashmina at reasonable prices. According to Thapa, all products available at the store are made with great care and dedication by local producers.
According to the traders, major customers of pashmina in the local market are wholesalers outside the valley, boutique owners, department stores and some of the finest fashion houses within the valley.

Though local demand of pashmina is very low, traders said an encouraging trend in demand from United States and Europe has motivated them. Besides, the steps taken by Nepal Pashmina Industries Association (NPIA) to promote Nepali pashmina throughout the world under the brand ´Chyangra Pashmina´ has helped a lot in exporting pashmina products.
Mandu Babu Adhikari, chief program officer at NPIA, said it is true that there is little local demand but the export of Pashmina is increasing every year. According to NPIA, the export of pashmina has grown by 20.10 percent in the fiscal year 2009/10 compared to a year ago.
