KATHMANDU, Oct 4: The central committee member of the main opposition Nepal Congress (NC) Dr Shekhar Koirala has accused the party president trying to be ‘dictator’ through the statute amendment.

Speaking at a program organized by Democrat Professors’ Association Nepal (DEPAN) to launch the journal Lokadrishti and on the occasion of upcoming festivals, leader Koirala urged the party leadership to correct few contentious points of the statute amendment.

Referring to the NC’s involvement against the autocratic regime of Rana and monarchy, leader Koirala questioned whether the party leaders are supposed to stand against the autocratic attitude of party leadership. He argued that the party should move ahead with the elected system and added that the nomination system should be scrapped.

In another context, Koirala criticized Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa for his opinion refuting his statement that capitalism is to be blamed for the increasing incidents of rape in the country. Likewise, Koirala accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of shielding the smuggler of 33 kg gold scam.

Meanwhile, speaking at the same program, NC central committee member and lawmaker Bhimsen Das Pradhan stressed the change of party leadership to regain the public mandate. He accused the communist party of misleading the people during the election.
