KATHMANDU, May 12: The Rastriya Janata Party has reached at Election Commission for the registration of the party in view of the election.
The Party held a discussion with the Election Commission officials in this regard Friday. Party leader Manish Kumar Suman said although it was not possible for them to participate in the local level election as a unified party right now, registration was sought for the same for the next election.
He added that the discussion centered on name of the party, its election symbol and registration process.
The Rastriya Janata Party was a party merged out of half dozen of splinter parties focused on Tarai/Madhes issues last week.
During the discussion, Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav congratulated the unification of different parties and informed that EC was not able to provide new election symbol to them because the printing of the ballot paper was already over. He requested them to participate in the election with previous symbols.
Leaders including Brishesh Chandra Lal, Jitendra Sonal, Keshav Jha, CP Singh and Dipendra Chaudhary attended the discussion. RSS
