Nepal, who is scheduled to swear in on Monday, is in favor of forming a small cabinet and administering oath of office to the ministers on Monday itself.
"He wants to form a cabinet comprising at least four or five members so that it would be easy for him to take some necessary decisions and do some work," said a UML leader.
A standing committee meeting of CPN-UML held on Sunday entrusted Nepal and party chairman Jhala Nath Khanal to select the leaders to represent the party in the cabinet.
"The standing committee entrusted the two top leaders (Nepal and Khanal) to take the decision. They may select any two leaders from the party for the cabinet and decide to administer oath of office if they think it necessary, with consent from other coalition partners," UML secretary Shankar Pokharel, told myrepublica.com.
A UML leader, preferring anonymity, claimed that the top leaders are likely to pick party´s vice president Bidya Bhandari and politburo member Surendra Pandey as ministers. Bhandari is close to Nepal while Pandey is close to Khanal.
The UML requested other major coalition partners to send the names of at least one or two leaders to represent the parties in the cabinet. Nepali Congress is expected to take the decision on it on Monday morning.
A meeting of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum convened to discuss the matter was underway till late on Sunday evening.
The parties also started groundwork to prepare a common minimum program (CMP) of the coalition government.Also, the parties have started talks on forming a high-level mechanism to guide the government.
