KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has asked the parliamentarians to set an example in the parliamentary history of Nepal by solving the problems of citizens through parliamentary activities in a short period of time.
The Speaker said so while addressing a two-day orientation program for the members of the House of Representatives held at the Parliament House, New Baneshwar, on Thursday.

He said that since the problems of the citizens are increasing, they should strengthen their role in parliament to solve the problems of the citizens. Speaker Ghimire said that the conduct and behavior of some parliamentarians in the past were not people-oriented and suggested that after coming to parliament, they should proceed with the aim of fulfilling the promises made to the people.
He said that parliamentarians should learn from the good things that happened in parliament in the past and make their parliamentary role effective. He also said that the citizens are watching parliamentarians in light of their activities in parliament.
Speaker Ghimire said that the biggest responsibility of making parliament effective lies with the government and the main opposition.
