The National Assembly has prepared a schedule so that the pre-budget discussion can be completed within six working days by March 13. Sources said that the HoR is planning to hold discussions for 10 days.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire held discussions upon the agenda prepared by the Parliament Secretariat with the chief whips of the major parties on Friday. The chief whips said that in some cases it would not be feasible to follow the schedule.
Hitraj Pandey, chief whip of the Maoist Center, said, "After discussing the agenda with the Speaker, we have reached a decision to further discuss and seek approval from the Business Advisory Committee meeting.”
This marks the first time pre-budget discussions will take place during the winter session. A recent government ordinance mandates that issues raised during the discussions be forwarded to the government after March 28.
