KATHMANDU, June 12: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been postponed. Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire adjourned the session until 3 pm on Thursday after opposition parties continued their obstruction. The Speaker decided to postpone the meeting following slogans and protests by the opposition demanding a parliamentary probe committee over the visit visa scandal.
Since May 28, lawmakers from the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre), along with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), and CPN (Unified Socialist), have been continuously obstructing the parliamentary proceedings. Despite repeated requests from Speaker Ghimire to create an environment to present issues on a party-wise basis, the lawmakers maintained their obstruction, leading to the adjournment of the session.

“We will raise the necessary issues through our party. The House has been obstructed for two weeks. The parliament is the highest body to discuss the country’s problems. We must create an environment for discussion, so please take your seats and support the process. Without a conducive environment, the session cannot proceed,” he said, “Let’s not make the parliament lifeless.”
Despite the request, lawmakers continued chanting slogans, leading to the adjournment of the parliamentary session. Opposition parties have been demanding the formation of an investigation committee and the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over his alleged involvement in the visit visa scandal.
As the obstruction from opposition lawmakers persisted, Speaker Ghimire ultimately removed all scheduled agendas and adjourned the session.
