Panos launches South Asia Check

KATHMANDU, Sep 10: Panos South Asia (PSA) has launched South Asia Check, a fact-checking project, to strengthen accountability and transparency in politics, government and public debate.

PSA, a regional media development non-governmental organization based in Kathmandu, has said that it unveiled South Asia Check (southasiacheck.org) also in ordedr to share skills and knowledge regarding fact checking."We would like to train reporters and media institutions if there is an interest," said Mohan Mainali, editor of South Asia Check in a press release issued on Thursday, adding, "After all, one of the objectives is that journalists should do fact-check for their stories themselves."

The statement added that Panos intends to expand this work across South Asia and is working toward that end.

Panos has said that it will also keep track of progress over the promises made by the government of Nepal, foreign governments and I/NGOs for earthquake relief and rebuilding.
