Paddy production expected to increase by 4.4 percent

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD), paddy production is expected to increase by 4.4 percent in the current Fiscal Year 2024/25. In the last FY 2023/24, paddy production increased by 4.3 percent.

KATHMANDU, Feb 18: The government has estimated an increase in paddy production this year.


According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD), paddy production is expected to increase by 4.4 percent in the current Fiscal Year 2024/25. In the last FY 2023/24, paddy production increased by 4.3 percent.

The ministry has stated that paddy production is expected to increase further compared to last year, according to data presented in the National Assembly on February 9.


According to the data presented, the average capacity utilization of the industry in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year 2023/24 was 48.33 percent. 


It is expected that some improvement will be seen in the operation of the industry due to the improvement in liquidity in the banking sector, falling interest rates, and stability in the prices of oil and other raw materials in the international market.
