Oxygen supplier threatens to halt Bir Hospital supply over unpaid dues

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: The gas company which supplies medical oxygen to Bir Hospital has sent a warning letter to the hospital after it failed to clear past dues for oxygen supply for a long time.

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: The gas company which supplies medical oxygen to Bir Hospital has sent a warning letter to the hospital after it failed to clear past dues for oxygen supply for a long time.


According to the hospital, Shankar Oxygen Gas Pvt Ltd, which is supplying oxygen to Bir Hospital, has sent a warning letter.

In the letter, it is stated that the company has been struggling to pay its employees salaries, electricity bills and supply costs as Bir Hospital has not cleared past dues for a long time. As mentioned in the letter, the hospital owes the company a total of Rs 18.3 million.


In the current fiscal year, the hospital faces a problem due to the reduction in the budget for oxygen, food and maintenance materials. As much as 80 percent of the hospital's internal resources are spent on the hospital staff salary and allowances. Santosh Paudel, director of the hospital, said that despite repeated requests for the necessary budget, it has not yet been released.
