Neupane drew media headlines in March 2019 after he revealed that then Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Raj Nayaran Pathak had received Rs 7.8 million from him to settle the dispute related to the Bhaktapur-based Engineering College. This eventually cost Pathak to lose his post after a case was filed against him at the Special Court for abusing his authority by taking the bribe in the name of settling the dispute.
The anti-graft body had then filed a separate case against Neupane in the same case.
