KATHMANDU, May 29: The government has allocated a budget of Rs 69.38 billion for the health sector in the upcoming fiscal year 2022/23. Minister for Finance, Janardan Sharma Janardan Sharma made this announcement during his budget speech in the federal parliament on Sunday afternoon .
The current allocation is Rs 52 billion lesser than the previous year's. In the previous fiscal year, Rs 122 billion was allocated for the health sector with the majority of the allocation being for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment.
Earlier on May 24, President Bidya Devi Bhandari had presented policies and programmes of the incumbent government for the upcoming fiscal year.
The government generally announces the budget being based on its policies and programs for the given time.
