Over 550,000 tourists visit Nepal in six months, Indians top the list

According to the latest data released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 577,689 foreign tourists visited the country between January and June 2025.

KATHMANDU,  July 2:  In the first six months of 2025, more than 550,000 foreign tourists visited Nepal, with Indian nationals topping the list of international arrivals.


According to the latest data released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 577,689 foreign tourists visited the country between January and June 2025. During the same period last year, Nepal had welcomed 583,011 tourists. Despite the slight decline, Indian visitors remained the highest in number, with 147,839 arrivals. Historically, India has consistently been the largest source market for Nepal’s tourism.


In the review period this year, Nepal welcomed 58,326 tourists from the United States, 52,514 from China, 28,956 from Bangladesh, and 27,068 from the United Kingdom. Additionally, 22,095 tourists came from Australia, 17,634 from Thailand, 15,432 from Sri Lanka, 14,455 from Germany, and 12,726 from South Korea, according to NTB figures.

76,000 tourists visited Nepal in June alone


NTB also reported that 76,425 foreign tourists visited Nepal in June 2025 alone, with Indian visitors again making up the largest share.


Out of the total arrivals in June, 32,662 were from India. The United States followed with 9,696 visitors, China with 6,736, Bangladesh with 5,449, and the United Kingdom with 2,284. The board further noted that tourists also arrived from Australia, Malaysia, Bhutan, Japan, and South Korea during this period.
