Over 250 Holi 'hooligans' arrested, released in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, March 10: Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu, on Tuesday arrested over 250 persons involved in anti-social activities during Holi celebration. All the arrested were released later in the evening.



Superintendent of Police Nawa Raj Silwal, chief of the range office said the arrested include those forcefully smearing colors and throwing water balloons to pedestrian and those on board vehicles. "We made the arrest to help check anti-social activities while celebrating the Holi festival," said Silwal.



Police had also arrested the motorcyclists with more than one pillion and those riding without helmets and seized their motorcycles to avoid accidents.



Metropolitan Police Office had deputed police personnel in all major thoroughfares of the city and immediately arrested those involved in forcefully smearing colors and throwing away water balloons.
