Over 19,000 vehicles penalized in Gandaki in first month of current FY

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Authorities in Gandaki Province have penalized 19,113 vehicles for traffic rule violations in the first month of the current fiscal year, according to the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office in Pokhara.

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Authorities in Gandaki Province have penalized 19,113 vehicles for traffic rule violations in the first month of the current fiscal year, according to the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office in Pokhara.


These penalties were issued across all 11 districts of the province, with significant revenue collected from fines.

Kaski had the highest number of violations, with 7,313 vehicles fined, resulting in Rs 5,498,500 in revenue. In Nawalparasi, 2,887 vehicles were penalized, contributing Rs 2,241,500. 


Tanahun saw 3,444 vehicles fined, generating Rs 2,697,500, while Syangja recorded Rs 983,500 from 1,235 vehicles. Baglung collected Rs 907,000 from 907 vehicles.


Other districts included Gorkha, with Rs 928,500 from 972 vehicles, Parbat with Rs 575,000 from 611 vehicles, Myagdi with Rs 425,500 from 574 vehicles, Mustang with Rs 71,500 from 75 vehicles, and Manang, where Rs 22,000 was collected from 24 vehicles. The Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office said that the rising number of traffic violations has led to stricter checks across the province. 


Alongside enforcement, the office has organized 3,257 traffic awareness programs, benefiting 155,134 people, including 56,253 women and 98,881 men. These efforts aim to reduce accidents and improve traffic management.
