Jeet Prakash Ale, the Provincial Government Finance Minister, announced that the necessary funds have been allocated to install solar energy systems in households that still lack access to electricity within the province. An amount of Rs 17.5 million has been earmarked for the reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of micro hydropower projects affected by natural disasters and other causes. Furthermore, the generated power from these projects will be integrated into the national grid.
The minister also revealed plans to conduct feasibility studies for wind power generation and explore the concept of 'floating solar' panels. Additionally, programs will be implemented to encourage a larger portion of the population to switch from using LPG to electric ovens. The installation of solar power systems in public offices, health posts, schools, and educational institutions will continue to ensure consistent power supply. Notably, the institutional solar energy installation program aims to provide heating facilities in at least one room of health posts operating birthing centers in the mountainous districts, with a budget allocation of Rs 10 million.
Moreover, the provincial government has allocated funds in the upcoming fiscal year's budget to provide a 100% subsidy on electricity tariffs for water supply and irrigation projects in the province. An amount of Rs 50 million has been allocated for this purpose.
