Not only young girls, Madhesi women as old as 48-year-old have been showing interest to serve as temporary police during the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) polls. [break]
Jitani Devi Danuwar, 48, of Fardawa-4, Haraiya in Sarlahi district, has submitted the form expressing her interest to serve as a temporary police. According to Danuwar, she opted for the temporary police job to utilize her leisure time as well as contribute in the conducting of the election in free and fair manner.
“Fearing men, women in Tarai region hesitate to caste vote. If we women are deployed in the polling stations, it would boost their confidence,” said she.
Rita Devi Chaudhari, 35, of Haraiya, also followed the suit and applied for the temporary police job submitting the form at District Police Office in Sarlahi.
Similarly, the 45 years old Soniya Devi Koiri, of Gamhariya-8, has also filled the form to serve as a temporary police. Koiri wants to raise some money from the job for the upcoming festival season.
Sarita Lama, 20, of Lalbandi-2, hoped that if she served as temporary police, it would be easier for her to join the security agency later permanently. According to district police office, 126 women have applied for the temporary police job till Friday evening.
The district has opened the vacancy for 1,465 temporary police personnel for which 3,887 men have also applied. A person with general ability to read and write is eligible to apply for the temporary job, however, the person having master´s degree have also applied.
According to Nagendra Raya, the principal of Janata Secondary School, the scenario showed how grave unemployment situation is in the country.
