KATHMANDU, Nov 29: Minister for Health Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that only the Prime Minister can sack the Dean and Vice-Chancellor at Tribhuvan University (TU).
Minister Thapa on Tuesday reached TU Teaching Hospital to take stock of the health condition of Dr Govinda KC who is on a hunger strike for the last 17 days.
During the visit, Minister Thapa told Dr KC that he will discuss the matter with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Dr KC has continued his hunger strike after talks teams of Dr KC and the government are at odds on the demand of the resignation of TU VC Tirtha Khaniya and Dean at the Institute of Medicine (IoM) Dr KP Singh.
According to an aide to Dr KC, Kishor KC, the Health Minister told Dr KC that he was working to address other demands except resignation.
Meanwhile, Press Coordinator to Minister Thapa, Jeevan Bhandari said that Minister Thapa will discuss the demands put forth by Dr KC at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for today.
