Only 56 percent MBBS graduates pass NMC licensing test

KATHMANDU, Feb 5: Over half who appeared in a licensing examination conducted by the Nepal Medical Council (NMC) have passed the exam.

According to the NMC, 56.68 percent of doctors have passed the 68th license examination conducted by the NMC from January 30 to February 2.

According to the NMC, overall 56.68 percent of the examinees have passed with 55.96 percent in medical and 61.05 percent in dental.

A total of 1,737 medical candidates and 2,285 dental candidates participated in the examination. Only 46 percent of the examinees had passed the 67th license examination held last year.

The examinees, who are not satisfied with the results of the examination, are requested to submit applications for re-registration within 35 days from the date of publication of the notice by clearly  mentioning their name and roll number to the NMC’s email. Such candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 1,500.

Candidates, who have passed the examination, must apply online to get the registration certificate within 35 days from the date of publication of this notice. The NMC said that the certificate will be prepared after 15 days from the date of application.

According to NMC, the concerned examinee should be present to get the certificate as the biometric attendance, photo check, signature test and collection certificate will be submitted when joining the test.
