A 37-year old lady from Narayanpur-11 of Dang breathed her last at around 1 AM this morning, according to Tej Oli, focal person at District COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee there.
“COVID-19 infection seems more fatal this time,” said Dr Paras Pandey, anesthesiologist at Bheri Hospital. “Only 5 to 10 percent of COVID-19 patients used to reach critical condition last year. But this time the case is different. More than 40 percent of COVID-19 patients are reaching critical conditions this time,” he added.
As Nepal is largely hit by the second wave of COVID-19, a number of new cases and cases of fatality are surging daily. “Youths and children are found more vulnerable this time. Almost 50 percent of COVID-19 patients are requiring oxygen support,” Pandey said.
As many as 200 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in Banke on Friday. With this, the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the district so far has reached 5,194. Currently, 414 COVID-19 patients in the district are staying in isolation.
