One more dead body of Yeti Airlines plane crash victim retrieved, one still missing

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: One more dead body of the victim of Yeti Airlines plane crash in Pokhara has been retrieved from a gorge of Seti River, where the ill-fated plane plunged with 72 people on Sunday.

According to the Assistant Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kaski Anil Shahi, the body was retrieved by the search and rescue team on Tuesday afternoon.  With this, the number of dead bodies retrieved so far has reached 71 while one person is still missing.

An ATR 72-500 series aircraft of Yeti Airlines with the call sign 9N-ANC, which flew from Kathmandu to Pokhara at 10:33 am on Sunday, was scheduled to land at Pokhara International Airport at 10:58 am. However, while making the final approach for landing, the plane suddenly crashed into the Seti River gorge near the Friendship Bridge between Pokhara Metropolitan City-7 and 15.

There were 72 people including 68 passengers and four crew members on board the ill-fated aircraft. It is presumed that all 72 people are dead by now.
