One killed, five injured in jeep accident

GORKHA, May 15: One person died in a jeep accident in Gorkha last night.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Lila Raj Lamichhane said that a Balero jeep (BA 01-025 CHA 620) fell down about 70 meters from the road in Gandaki Rural Municipality-6, Ghauchur.

A 78-year-old Kirmaya Ale, a resident of Gandaki Rural Municipality-6, died in the accident. DSP Lamichhane said that Ale, who was seriously injured when the Bolero jeep on its way to Ghauchur from Kathmandu fell off the byroad, died during treatment at the Gorkha Hospital.

Five others were injured in the accident. The injured are 77-year-old Kanmaya Ale, 78-year-old Dhan Bahadur Ale, 81-year-old Tirtha Bahadur Ale, 72-year-old Purna Bahadur Thapa and 65-year-old Gangamaya Thapa of the same place. The injured are being treated at Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur.

DSP Lamichhane said that after the accident, 43-year-old Keharsin Thapa, the driver of the jeep, was detained. It is said that the cause of the accident has not been revealed and further investigation is underway.
