Political parties fail to agree on Natl' Assembly Ordinance
“After the tournament CAN will organize another tournament consisting of four teams. Three teams will be made from 50 selected players and other team will be invited from U-19 national team. It will be helpful in finalizing the players for closed camp training of the WCL Championship,” said Karmacharya, who added that all four teams will play in the double round robin format.
Meanwhile, CAN also formed a three-member player selection committee under Karmacharya. National team coach Pubudu Dassanayake and Coach Jagat Tamata are the members of the committee.
Work Agreement with Dassanayake
Six months after his appointment as the coach of national cricket team, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Friday formally signed contract with coach Pubudu Dassanayake.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) had extended his contract for the same purpose on September 1 last year amidst dispute in CAN. The MoYS had also directed CAN to sign contract extension with Sri Lankan born Canadian national.
However, it took CAN more than six months to sign the contract extension agreement with Dassanayake, whose term will end on June 15 this year.
CAN’s newly appointed acting president Deepak Koirala clarified that the agreement process was delayed due to legal proceedings at the court.
Meanwhile, Koirala said that CAN was also planning to request the government to hire coach Dassanayake for at least two years until WCL Championship.
“We need Dassanayake for the WCL Championship as he played major role for bringing Nepali team up to this level, so we are planning to request the government to extend his contract by two years and maintain the TU ground for the WCL Championship,” said Koirala.
