KATHMANDU, April 17: With Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli appointing Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Jayant Chand as commerce minister on Monday, the size of Oli-led government's council of ministers -- which comprises of deputy prime ministers, ministers, state ministers and assistant ministers -- has reached 41.
Chand took the oath of office and secrecy and assumed his office on Sunday, said prime minister's Press Advisor Pramod Dahal.
Jayant Chand, who is the son of RPP chairman and former prime minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand, is a member of parliament nominated under the proportional representation quota.
In the previous government, Sunil Bahadur Thapa, the son of former prime minister and the then RPP chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa was minister for commerce.
In the power-sharing among coalition partners, RPP was given two ministries-- the ministry of commerce and the ministry of labor and employment.
Until now, RPP leader Deepak Bohara was heading both the ministries.
Prime Minister Oli has yet to appoint a minister for Ministry of Urban Development, a portfolio he is overseeing himself.
In Oli's cabinet, there are six deputy prime ministers, 22 ministers, ten state ministers and two assistant ministers.
