KATHMANDU, June 24: Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal has alleged that CPN-UML Chairman K P Sharma Oli is conspiring to topple the government led by CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Addressing a book release event organized in Kathmandu on Friday, Chairman Nepal accused Chairman Oli of looking for an opportunity to break the current ruling alliance and form a new government under the leadership of Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Chairman Nepal also alleged that UML leadership was not sincere to unite communist parties in the country to strengthen socialist force. Referring to their recent decision to form a Socialist Front, Nepal said that they had to do it as the big party did not show any interest towards this.

"The big party [UML] did not want to unite the socialist forces. You may have read in today's newspaper what he still wants. KP Oli is saying that he is ready to support the NC by influencing the NC leadership to run the government. You must have heard about it," he said while addressing the participants.

Chairman Nepal said that it is ironic that the leader of a communist party is trying to topple the Communist government and make the NC President Deuba the new prime minister. "What a tragedy is this?  What will be the character of that communist party? The leader of the Communist Party is trying to bring down the government led by a Communist party," he said.

Chairman Nepal also said that Oli has been making a series of attempts to break the current alliance and form a new government under the leadership of NC.  While stating that such an attempt won't succeed, Chairman Nepal urged all parties that carry socialist ideology to join the socialist front.

A four-party Socialist Front, comprising CPN (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajbadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist) and Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal, was announced amid a special function in the capital on Monday. The Front commands a total of 52 seats in the 275-member House of Representatives.

Sources said the Socialist Front was established after learning about the efforts made by the UML to form a new government, breaking the current alliance. Should the Front continue to exist, the UML will have only one option to form the new government with the help of NC, which is the main coalition partner of Prime Minister Dahal.
