KATHMANDU, Nov 25: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has alleged that former CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had a role in the Gen Z violence that erupted on September 9.
Speaking during an interview on Nagarik Frontline, Oli repeated his claim that the incident involved individuals mobilised by the Maoist Centre. Responding to a question on whether the then Maoist Centre and its leader were involved, Oli said, “I cannot say if the leadership was directly involved but he had called former combatants from across the country (to Kathmandu).”

Chairman Oli added that the government at the time had no prior information about such mobilisation. “We learned about it later. Maoist cadres were seen in different places carrying party flags. They spoke publicly, they were recognised. Some even posted selfies online claiming victory,” he said.
Oli further claimed that Dahal was “celebrating” on the morning of September 9, saying he was about to become prime minister. “He was telling colleagues, ‘Support me, let’s form a joint government and move ahead. Not through the constitution but through the power of the movement, I will complete the revolution and become prime minister—you should join me.’ He was saying this inside Singha Durbar,” Oli claimed.
Oli also alleged that after the fire broke out at Singha Durbar, Prachanda “ran from there and entered the Army headquarters.” He remarked, “Thank you for placing such trust in the Nepali Army.”
