KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Sarita Khadka, currently residing at Sinamangal, was walking through the Tinkune Park to her home with her two-year-old son late Sunday evening. Suddenly, Khadka saw a person sleeping in the bushes inside the park. She was afraid to go to the park as it was already late.

The next day, at around 7 in the morning, Khadka went back to the park, and saw an old lady lying. The lady was abandoned by her family.

The lady was freezing, and was covered by thick morning dew. “The old lady was abandoned in such a way that pedestrians and commuters could not see her,” Khadka told Republica.

Khadka then contacted the nearest police station, and representatives from the Manav Sewa Ashram--a shelter home.

“She was not able to talk. She could barely move as she had paralysis,” said Suman Bartaula, who is the secretary of Manav Sewa Ashram.

As her health condition was deteriorating, the Ashram took her to the Bir Hospital. But she died on the way to the hospital.

“It seems her family members abandoned her as she had paralysis. Looking at her clothes, it seems she belongs to a decent family,” the Ashram said.

The body of the lady has been sent to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for post mortem.

The police is investigating the case and searching for family members of the lady.
