The current number is less by one third than that of 2008, when a total of 1,29,378 voters had been registered in the district.
"Out of the total registered voters, 39,668 are from constituency number 1 and 40,856 from constituency number 2," said Election Office, Okhaldhunga.
Constituency number 1 has 40 polling stations while 2 has 38. There are only two constituencies in the district. "Voter numbers have decreased in the district as most of the youths are out of the district or out of the country for employment, while some have deliberately not registered themselves," said Basudev Gajurel, chief of the District Election office, Okhaldhunga. He added they have set up office of the returning officers in the constituencies of the district.
Gajurel further added that the constituencies are not under any kinds of threat. “The security condition at the constituencies is normal and it is likely that the polls here will be held peacefully,” insisted Gajurel.
