Upendra Mahato boycotts NRNA global conference alleging politicization

Founding President and Patron of Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) has boycotted the ongoing World Conference alleging growing politicization. 

“I felt not like participating in the conference as unnatural political polarization was attempted to convert NRNA into a sister-wing," Mahato told Republica Online on Tuesday afternoon while expressing concern over growing political interference in the NRNA.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal's relations with the neighboring countries India and China have entered a new phase. 

Inaugurating Second China and South Asia Literature Conference organized by Nepal Academy in the capital on Tuesday, Prime Minister Oli said that enhancing the economic prosperity of the countries of South Asia through mutual collaboration by promoting the rich civilization, knowledge, research, and culture is the present need. 

President Bhandari inaugurates 9th NRNA Global Convention in capital

The ninth Global convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) began in Kathmandu on Tuesday morning. 

Amid a special function held at Hotel Hyatt Regency in the capital, President Bidya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the three-day global conference of Nepali diaspora. 

According to NRNA General Secretary Badri KC, some 2,500 representatives from 81 countries are participating in the conference that will elect a new leadership of the umbrella organization of Nepalis living across the world. 

Nepal Police produces Mahara before Kathmandu District Court

Former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been produced before the Kathmandu District Court.

Mahara was arrested on October 6 on the charge of sexually harassing Roshani Shahi, an employee at the Federal Parliamentary Secretariat. 

After conducting the preliminary hearing at District Attorney Office Kathmandu, Mahara was presented to the court to extend the term of detention. 

Lawmaker Shah arrested on charge of vandalizing airport

Police on Tuesday have arrested lawmaker Pramod Kumar Shah on the charge of vandalizing Janakpur airport. 

Shah, a lawmaker of Rashtriya Janata Party was arrested from Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu hours after Dhanusha District Court issued an arrest-warrant against him for his involvement in vandalizing the airport counter on Monday, according to Airport Police Incharge Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Surya Upadhyay.
