KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The National Vigilance Centre (NVC) under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has intensified monitoring of employees' office time and discipline in a bid to maintain good governance and improve public service.

Since the formation of the present government, NVC has monitored 853 government offices and directed the concerned authorities to take action against 8,830 employees who violated the code of conduct, according to the PM's secretariat.
NVC is also working on a technical test of national plans/projects, file tracking to curb delays in service delivery and a survey of service seekers' satisfaction. Efforts are in the final stage to formulate a 'vigilance act' in order to empower NVC. Vigilance officers would be managed at the provincial, district, and local levels to beef up the regulatory system.
