Prior to the promulgation of the Constitution of 2015, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had the authority to investigate improper actions by government employees. However, the new constitution limited the CIAA's jurisdiction to corruption, excluding other forms of misconduct.
"In the course of investigating corruption, addressing 'improper work' is necessary. Based on the opinion of respected Lawmakers, I request that the NVC be given the authority to take action against such misconduct," DIG Bista said.
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak stated that the issue of addressing improper actions in the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002 has also been identified for discussion.
